Cheryl Schuetze joined the Office of the General Counsel in 2023 and represents the University primarily in civil litigation and employment matters.
Prior to joining the office, Cheryl was the Chief Legal Officer for Great Circle, a behavioral health nonprofit for children and families. Cheryl previously served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, including as the Chief Counsel of the Governmental Affairs Section, Deputy Chief Counsel of the Consumer Protection Section, and Team Leader in the Litigation Section. During her career, Cheryl has tried cases in a variety of fields including employment discrimination, civil rights, personal injury, torts, regulatory enforcement, fraud, murder, and white collar crimes. She is a 1999 graduate of Colorado State University and 2002 graduate of Washington University School of Law. She received the William M. Pomerantz Trial Prize for excellence in trial advocacy from Washington University School of Law; the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Litigation; and the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Administration & Management.
Cheryl was the Director of the Missouri Attorney General’s Trial Advocacy Training Program and a faculty member of both the Missouri Attorney General’s and National Association of Attorneys’ General Training and Research Institute’s Trial Advocacy programs. She has also taught continuing legal education classes for attorneys and non-attorney staff on a variety of topics including of Trial and Pre-Trial Practice, Evidence, Consumer Protection, Criminal Law, and Civil Procedure.
